Project Description

74 WCM | WEILL CORNELL MEDICINE

Intercom Facades proudly contributed to the successful completion of Weill Cornell Medicine’s new student residence, officially named the Feil Family and Weill Family Residence Halla 16-story, 173,000-square-foot housing development located at 1393 York Avenue, on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

Designed by Perkins&Will and built by Turner Construction Company, the building offers contemporary accommodations for medical students, faculty, and staff, with a strong focus on sustainability and wellness. The project is targeting LEED Gold certification.

Intercom Facades engineered and supplied approx. 1,500 high-performance unitized curtain wall panels, featuring double and triple-glazed low-iron and mid-iron insulating glass units. Many panels incorporate a bird-friendly translucent dot pattern to enhance sustainability and improve facade performance.

Key architectural features include triple-glazed operable windows, custom bronze and grey metallic painted aluminum panels, and three distinct textures of terracotta from Shildan Group. These elements were carefully composed to bring depth, warmth, and a dynamic visual quality that shifts with natural light.

Through this project, Intercom Facades delivered a high-performance envelope solution that reflects a strong commitment to sustainability, refined material expression, and architectural excellence.
